Lamination & Finishing Services

The perfect final touch. Add durability, protection, and a premium feel to your prints with our range of high-quality lamination options.

Elevate and Protect Your Printed Materials

Lamination is a print finishing process where a thin, transparent plastic film is applied to the surface of paper or card. This simple process has a transformative effect, not only protecting the print from wear, tear, and moisture, but also dramatically enhancing its appearance. It's an essential final step for products that need to be durable, long-lasting, and make a strong impression.

From business cards and menus to book covers and brochures, lamination adds a professional touch that you can both see and feel. It suggests quality and care, elevating your brand perception in the hands of your customers.

Our Lamination Options:

Gloss Lamination

A high-shine, reflective finish that makes colours appear more vibrant and impactful. The smooth, slick texture is great for grabbing attention.

  • Best for: Marketing materials, photo-heavy designs, book covers, retail signage.
  • Effect: Vibrant, high-impact, eye-catching.

Matt Lamination

A smooth, non-reflective finish that provides a sophisticated and modern look. It's soft to the touch and reduces glare, making text easier to read.

  • Best for: Corporate brochures, business cards, high-end invitations, text-heavy documents.
  • Effect: Elegant, professional, understated.

Soft-Touch (or Velvet) Lamination

The ultimate in luxury finishing. This lamination has a matt appearance but with a unique, velvety texture that is irresistible to touch. It creates a truly memorable tactile experience.

  • Best for: Luxury business cards, high-end packaging, premium book covers, exclusive event invitations.
  • Effect: Premium, luxurious, highly tactile.

Lamination is the perfect partner for other special finishes. Consider combining a Matt Lamination with a high-gloss Spot UV to create a stunning contrast. This finish works beautifully on products from both our Digital and Offset Printing ranges.

The Benefits of Lamination

  • Durability: Protects against spills, stains, fingerprints, and tearing.
  • Enhanced Appearance: Deepens colours and improves contrast for a more professional look.
  • Premium Feel: Adds a tangible sense of quality and value to your prints.
  • Longevity: Increases the lifespan of frequently handled items like menus and price lists.

Lamination FAQs

Can you laminate any paper stock?

Lamination works best on coated paper stocks of 150gsm or heavier. We don't recommend laminating very thin or uncoated papers as the results can be inconsistent.

What's the difference between lamination and encapsulation?

Lamination is a thin film applied to the surface. Encapsulation completely encloses the print in plastic with a sealed edge, making it fully waterproof. We can advise which is best for you.

Can I write on a laminated surface?

You can write on gloss lamination with a permanent marker. Matt lamination can be written on with a biro. However, neither can be put through a standard office printer again.
