Custom Die Cutting Services

Think outside the box. Create custom shapes and unique cuts that make your print materials truly one-of-a-kind.

Unleash Your Creativity with Custom Shapes

Die cutting is a finishing process that involves using a sharp, custom-made steel die to cut paper or card into a specific shape. This versatile technique allows you to move beyond standard squares and rectangles and create truly bespoke print materials that capture attention and spark curiosity. From uniquely shaped business cards to custom packaging, die cutting adds a memorable and interactive element to your brand.

The process is precise and consistent, ensuring every piece is perfectly cut to your exact specifications. Whether you want a simple rounded corner or a complex, intricate pattern, die cutting offers endless creative possibilities.

Inspiration for Die Cutting:

  • Business cards shaped like your logo or product
  • Custom-shaped swing tags and product labels
  • Folders with unique pockets or window cut-outs
  • Invitations with intricate laser-cut details
  • Bespoke packaging boxes and sleeves
  • Uniquely shaped direct mail pieces that stand out

Die cutting is a powerful way to enhance your brand's physical presence. Combine a custom shape with a luxurious finish like Foil Stamping to create a truly premium product. This technique can be applied to projects printed with either Digital or Offset methods, offering huge flexibility.

Why Choose Die Cutting?

  • Stand Out: Custom shapes are unusual and immediately grab attention.
  • Be Memorable: A unique shape is more likely to be remembered and kept by your customers.
  • Reinforce Your Brand: Create shapes that reflect your logo, products, or industry.
  • Add Functionality: Create custom folds, tabs, and windows for packaging and folders.

Die Cutting FAQs

How do I supply artwork for die cutting?

You will need to provide your print artwork as usual, plus a 'die-line' file. This is a vector path (usually a 1pt magenta line) in your artwork that indicates exactly where the cut should be made.

Is there a limit to the complexity of the shape?

While traditional die-cutting is very versatile, extremely intricate designs may be better suited to laser cutting. We can advise on the best method for your specific design to achieve the perfect result.

Is it expensive?

There is a one-time cost to create the custom metal die. This makes die-cutting more cost-effective for larger quantities. Once the die is made, it can be reused for future print runs at no extra cost.
