Custom Size Poster Printing
Not every wall is a standard size, and not every frame follows the A-series. Printways prints custom size posters to any width and height you specify, in millimetres, from small formats right up to sizes larger than A0 and panoramic prints. Same 200gsm gloss, matte, satin and recycled stock as our standard range. just cut to your exact dimension instead of a fixed format.
Most customers come to us because a standard size is slightly wrong: an old imperial frame, a recessed panel between two windows, a 700mm gap above a shop entrance, a piece of legacy artwork designed before A-sizes were standard. Others simply want a single large statement print. Either way, you tell us the width and height. we quote and print to that specification with no minimum order.
Why Choose Custom Size Posters?
- Exact fit. printed to your millimetre dimensions so it fills the frame, panel or space exactly, with no awkward borders.
- Any format. landscape, portrait, square, panoramic or irregular. If it fits on a sheet, we can print it.
- Larger than A0. we print beyond standard sizes for large single-panel statements and long banners.
- Legacy and imperial sizes. old frame sizes, 20"×30"-type dimensions and non-metric artwork all catered for.
- No minimum order. one-off bespoke poster or a full campaign run, both fine.
- Same stock range — 200gsm gloss, matte, satin and 100% recycled, all FSC-certified.
- Same-day quoting. send us your measurements and we will confirm price and turnaround the same working day.
How to Measure for a Custom Size Poster
Measure the space the poster will occupy, not the poster you think you need. If the poster is going into a frame, measure the internal frame aperture. the visible opening. and add 3mm bleed to your artwork for trimming. If it is going onto a wall or panel, measure the visible area and decide whether you want a border or a flush fit.
Where It's Going | What to Measure | Tip |
|---|---|---|
Picture frame | Internal frame aperture (mm) | Measure the opening the print sits in, not the outer frame |
Wall or panel | Visible area where the poster will sit | Leave 10–20mm margin if you want a border |
Between two features | The narrowest gap (e.g. between windows) | Measure at both top and bottom. walls are rarely perfectly parallel |
Panoramic or long format | Full width and full height separately | Keep the aspect ratio in mind so images are not stretched |
Irregular or curved space | The largest bounding rectangle that fits | Send us a photo and we will advise on the best fit |
Custom Size Poster Examples
Custom sizing covers a wide range of real-world needs. Recent examples include:
- 700mm × 1000mm — filling a recessed wall panel between two windows
- 500mm × 700mm. a legacy German frame size that is not an A-series format
- 1000mm × 1500mm — a single large statement poster for a retail window
- 300mm × 1200mm. a tall narrow column graphic for a hotel or show aisle
- 1524mm × 1016mm (60" × 40") — imperial photographic print size
- Any N-up sheet. multiple small posters printed on one large sheet and trimmed to size
If your dimension does not appear in this list, that is not a problem. the list is short because the range is infinite.
Paper Options for Custom Size Posters
The finish options are identical to our standard poster range. only the dimensions change.
200gsm Gloss
High colour saturation and a light-reflective surface. Best for photo images, product shots and bold graphics in well-lit spaces away from direct window glare.
200gsm Matte
Non-reflective and reads cleanly from any angle. The safer choice for text-heavy designs, information panels and spaces with spotlights.
200gsm Satin
A balanced finish. low sheen with strong colour. Easy to photograph for social media without reflections. A good default for marketing print.
100% Recycled
Uncoated, naturally textured paper made from post-consumer waste. Ideal for eco care-led brands, shows and green procurement policies.

Custom Size Posters for Outdoor Use
Our standard 200gsm stock is designed for indoor use. It is coated to shed rain and resist UV exposure. we can produce it in any custom dimension too.
Artwork and File Setup for Custom Sizes
Supply artwork at your chosen finished size, as a PDF, at 150dpi minimum (300dpi for close viewing), CMYK colour mode, with 3mm bleed on all four edges and crop marks included. Bleed matters more on custom sizes than on standard ones, because non-standard trimming leaves less margin for error.
If you have artwork at a different size and need it scaled to fit, send it over. our studio will resize, re-bleed and sharpen it for you at no extra cost, and confirm the final output dimensions before it goes on press. We check every file before printing and will contact you if anything is low-resolution or the aspect ratio will distort the image.

How to Prepare Your Artwork
To ensure the highest quality print, please supply your artwork in PDF format. We recommend saving your files with the 'High Quality Print' preset. Here are a few essential tips for the perfect print:
- Bleed Area: Please include a minimum of 3mm bleed on all edges of your design. This ensures no white borders are left when we trim your product to the final size.
- Safe Zone: Keep all important text, contact details, and logos at least 3mm away from the trim edge.
- Resolution: All images and graphics should be supplied at 300dpi (dots per inch) for crisp, clear, and professional results.
- Colour Mode: Convert all RGB and spot colours to CMYK format before exporting your file to avoid unexpected colour shifts.

- Gloss: A shiny coating that makes colours pop and images look incredibly vibrant. Ideal for flyers, posters, and photograph-heavy designs.
- Matt Lamination: A smooth, sleek finish that dulls reflections and adds a premium, tactile feel to business cards and luxury presentation folders.
- Spot UV & Foil: For maximum visual impact, add a glossy raised layer or metallic foil to specific parts of your design to draw the eye instantly.
